Öland bridge spans Kalmar and connects the mainland with Oland.
The construction of the bridge began officially on 30 December 1967.
The 6072-meter and 13 meter wide bridge is made of reinforced concrete with two-thirds of the structure is under water. The construction took 4 years and 9months old and most committed to the 160 workers at the same time.
Highest when the bridge 41 feet above vatteenytan and at its low point only sixyards.
The bill for the building landed at SEK 130 million.
At the opening ceremony on 30 September 1972 the bridge was Europe’s longest.
