Along the road in Störlinge is a row of seven windmills. All of the type stump grinder.
Most likely there have been windmills on Öland since Middle Ages. The mills heyday was in the 1700s. Each farm would have its own mill. In 1820 an inventory of 1713 mills. Today there are about 400 mills remain.
In both Störlinge village, Gärdslösa and Lerkaka village, Runsten, on MiddleEastern Oland, remaining lines preserved.
The majority of the mills are from the last third of the 1700s.
