Uppsala Cathedral is a cathedral in mixed Gothic style (essentially a neo-Gothic brick imitation of French höggotik around a medieval core). It is thecathedral of the archdiocese, the parish church of the Uppsala Cathedral Parish and the national shrine of the Swedish Church. It was ordained in 1435at St. Erik, St. Olaf and St. Lawrence as patron.
The church is with Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim and St Mary’s Church in Gdansk, the largest in northern Europe (and the largest in Scandinavia, 118.7meters long and as high in the two western towers), and the largest of itswatches, called Storan, is the largest church bell.
Among the church treasures are among the gilded shrine of Erik the HolyRelics, which stands beside the high altar. Although Gustav Vasa andLinnaeus are buried in Uppsala Cathedral. The north tower is today a museum of ecclesiastical textiles. At the south portal is a set of stone figuresfrom the 1300s and above it is also the Son of windows which is the largestchurch window (in total 119 square meters).
